CENTRAL Sam Rodon has returned to Welsh League side Haverfordwest County after spending all of last season with Aberystwyth Town.
The Bluebirds claimed to have ‘beaten off competition from a host of Welsh Premier and Welsh League clubs’ for the services of the 24-year-old ex-Swansea City Academy player.
He followed former County manager Wayne Jones to Park Avenue a year ago, and he made 27 league appearances for the Seasiders last season.
He is the third player to leave Aber’s squad this summer, following the departure of Luke Sherbon to Caersws and Mark Jones to Afan Lido.
The Seasiders, however, have confirmed that fans’ favourite Geoff Kellaway, who played his 250th game for Aber at the end of last season, has committed to remain at Park Avenue.
Locally-based Kellaway, who has represented Aber in two Welsh Cup Finals, and in the Europa League, scored eight goals from 27 appearances last season, which included a hat-trick away at Carmarthen Town.
It takes the number of retained first team players from last season to 10.
Meanwhile the league fixtures for next season will see Aber kick-off their season with a televised game at Jenner Park, home of Welsh League Champions Barry Town, on Sunday, 13 August, with a 5.15pm kick off.
Their first home match comes five days later on Friday, 18 August at home to Llandudno (ko 7.45pm).
Aber face Carmarthen in a festive double header, away on Boxing Day and at home on New Year’s Day.
